Hello friends! We’re the Ostmo family, and we love learning about countries and people. Our oldest daughter, Melaya, has tons of friends all around the world. One of the is Kelvin from Stockholm, Sweden.

Kelvin’s dad is the CEO of a big technology company and he just bought a new yacht. Kelvin says that yachts are really expensive. They can fit lots of family members and friends on board at once!

Kelvin says that he loves going out sailing with his dad, which makes him feel like a real pirate! The yacht is really big and it has lots of different rooms. It has a living room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and even an office! Kelvin says that the yacht has everything he could ever need while they are out on the water. He always feels so much enthusiasm before any sailing trip on the Yacht. Enthusiasm means intensely wanting to do something.

Now, in Venice, Italy, almost 1,500 miles away from London, lives another of Melaya’s friends, named Stella. She and Melaya chatted a while ago and Stella told Melaya that she recently started reading a lot about ferries and how to operate them. Ferries are big boats that transport people mostly short distances. Stella said that she would like to work on one someday. She loves water and boats but she likes ferries in particular because they can sometimes carry even cars! Stella said she has been so eager to be on one but she has never had the chance to.

Would you like to drive a boat or ship when you grow up?

When Marshall calls Melaya he tells her about all the adventures he and his family have when they travel. Melaya loves hearing about the cruise ships and all of the places they visit. She has never been on a cruise ship before, but she would love to go on one someday.

Now, in London, the same city where Melaya’s home is, lives a girl named Sandra, who is also Melaya’s friend. Sandra’s family owns a houseboat and Sandra has lived on it for as long as she can remember.

A house that stays on water? That’s so cool! Sandra told Melaya she loves living on the water and wouldn’t like to live elsewhere! She told Melaya that she hopes to have her own houseboat when she grows up so she can travel all around the world without leaving home!

Melaya is so impressed with Sandra’s house. She told Sandra that she wished she lived on a houseboat too!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Sophia’s dream is to be a courageous woman able to control a boat by herself one day. She said she wants to go out into the open ocean without any help from anyone else! She would like to see what things look like far away from the land where no people or buildings are around.

Sophia told Melaya that her family has been sailing on their catamaran for as long as she can remember. She said that they love spending time together, even when they are far away from the land. They always bring food and water with them.
